Our School - The Hayward Middle School provides an excellent opportunity for students to see old friends, meet new teachers, and prepare for the exciting challenges that lie ahead in their lives. The school lives by the “Win The Day!” motto. This represents the student’s and staff’s willingness to come to school every day with a positive, enthusiastic attitude. The Hayward Middle School will provide each and every student with the necessary tools to reach their potential. We offer a broad curriculum, and a climate that fosters positive academic, social, emotional and physical growth to students. Required Classes Your child will be enrolled in several classrooms with their core curriculum being taught. Core classes for 6th grade include: Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Science, and Earth Science. Core classes for 7th grade include: Language Arts, Pre-Algebra, Geography, and Biological Science. Core classes for 8th grade include: Language Arts, Pre-Algebra or Algebra I, World History I, and Physical Science. Other classes your child may be taking at this level may include: Art, Band, Careers, Choir, Computer Applications, Computer Keyboarding, Discovery, Exploring Spanish, General Music, Human Growth & Development, Library, Ojibwe Language and Culture, Physical Education, Quest-Skills for Adolescents, and Technology Education. Accelerated Reader, Read 180, Math 180 and SuccessMaker are also offered at the Middle School level.

The Middle School Parents Assisting Canes (PAC) is a parenting group that meets monthly to discuss educational and other Middle School related issues. If you would like to know what is happening at the Middle School, involvement in this group is a good way to stay informed. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Middle School Parents Assisting Canes (PAC) Committee Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month. The meetings are at 8:30 a.m. in the Middle School Office Conference Room.

It is the policy of the Hayward Community School District that no person, on the basis of race, sex, color, gender, religion, national origin, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, or physical, mental, emotional, learning disability or handicap as required by s 118.13, WI State Statutes may be denied admission to any school in this District or be denied participation in any curricular, extra curricular, pupil services, recreational, or other programs or activities.

This policy also prohibits discrimination under related federal statues, including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (race, national origin, color), Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (gender), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (handicap), and American Disabilities Act of 1990 (disability).

The District encourages informal resolution of complaints under this policy. However, a formal complaint resolution procedure is available to address allegations of violations of the policy in the Hayward Community School District.
